Imagine a metaverse where kinetic sculptures suffer a breakdown, some barely able to rotate, others frozen as if stuck in time. Fantasy becomes reality in the newest WindLight viewer, which appears to have a particularly nasty bug that affects the kinetic artists amongst us. Complex objects and sculptures containing a number of linked rotations (via llTargetOmega) seem to suffer a malfunction under LL's recently released, bleeding-edge WindLight viewer. Previously smoothly flowing motions and rotations have been rendered jerky or even completely stalled as if stricken by some sort of cosmic lag infection.
So what's a panicked artist who suddenly sees her or his kinetic creations in a state of disrepair to do? Reach out to the art community and ask for evidence and support, of course. We need to make it clear that this bug in WindLight is significant and should have a high priority in the bug-quashing department. I reported the issue on SL's Issue Tracker and would be most appreciative if folks would navigate their way over and add their own vote for the issue (click here). Adding your vote and/or comments to this problem increases its priority and importance in the repair queue. Let's help get this thing fixed soon--a non-kinetic world (even temporary) seems unthinkable and unbearable... —Sunn Thunders

Update

Its official! The grand opening of the Abyss will be on Saturday, November 10th from 1pm to 3pm SL time. Sunn and I will be on hand to greet visitors, answer questions, etc.
The Abyss is a virtual museum of the deep sea. It will feature art as well as science in the form of an underwater sculpture garden and a gallery area on the surface. I've created a website where Sunn Thunders and myself will be posting news and announcements.

Second Life at Its Finest
It's the shining moments in Second Life that make us realize why we are here and how fortunate we are to be citizens of this great community. Combine the atmosphere of Oyster Bay with the world class piano artistry of Origin Rang and you have the ingredients for a great event. But it doesn't stop there. Share the evening of masterful classical piano on a beautiful bayside pier with your best friends and most admired residents of the metaverse and you have a memorable experience that fills your home and heart with joy and happiness. Friday night's concert was just that: Origin Rang thrilled an enthusiastic audience yet again with his almost inhuman passion and energy on the piano. Truly Second Life at its finest... —Sunn Thunders

Reflexive Architecture by Keystone Bouchard
A wonderful installation that makes perfect use of Second Life as a creative platform, Keystone Bouchard's Reflexive Architecture could easily be considered one of the current marvels of Second Life art. You can check out the installation in person at the Gallery of Reflexive Architecture.
Conceptualized by Keystone and scripted by Fumon Kubo, the scripts for this reflexive architecture have recently gone open-source so as to provide room for the general public to play with and improve upon the existing software.
You can find the script here; now get out there and play!

Tragedy at Burning Life
written by Cyanide Seelowe
Everyone saw it coming... we all KNEW that griefers were going to target Burning Life and come up with a cunning way to ruin someone's fun... but their recent attempts on the Playa were far more tragic and devastating than anyone could have imagined.
It is to my understanding that a group of griefers came up with a way to returns all indescriminate "Objects" to their owners, or delete them... i'm unfortunately not savvy on the details... but I will tell you that more than 80% of the Floating Rivers installation is now gone, and the carnage that surrounds our small plot of Burning Life resembles that of a zombie flick-- desolate, empty and unsettlingly serene.

Burning Life Builder Good2 Go mourns the abrupt departure of his
build, reminiscent of Buddhist monks from the Vietnam war.
We understand that the whole point of Burning Life, and its parent festival Burning Man is the impermanence of art... but this is a terrible way to say goodbye.
Nevertheless, there are still human spirits attached to these virtual avatars, and the last time i checked, the human spirit was indomitable-- we will persevere, and we will make a come-back.

Gone... all gone.

Good2 Go in a better mood, but still aflame :D
