As the World (Doesn't) Turn

Imagine a metaverse where kinetic sculptures suffer a breakdown, some barely able to rotate, others frozen as if stuck in time. Fantasy becomes reality in the newest WindLight viewer, which appears to have a particularly nasty bug that affects the kinetic artists amongst us. Complex objects and sculptures containing a number of linked rotations (via llTargetOmega) seem to suffer a malfunction under LL's recently released, bleeding-edge WindLight viewer. Previously smoothly flowing motions and rotations have been rendered jerky or even completely stalled as if stricken by some sort of cosmic lag infection.

So what's a panicked artist who suddenly sees her or his kinetic creations in a state of disrepair to do? Reach out to the art community and ask for evidence and support, of course. We need to make it clear that this bug in WindLight is significant and should have a high priority in the bug-quashing department. I reported the issue on SL's Issue Tracker and would be most appreciative if folks would navigate their way over and add their own vote for the issue (click here). Adding your vote and/or comments to this problem increases its priority and importance in the repair queue. Let's help get this thing fixed soon--a non-kinetic world (even temporary) seems unthinkable and unbearable... —Sunn Thunders

Consider it done, Sunn.

Yikes! I'm happy you know how to put a glitch on the jira, because I didn't. The "physically" rotating prims are not rotating correctly... while the texture rotations are moving at warp speed, although set to slow. And, what is worse, to me, is that I can be in regular SL and it looks fine, while someone in Windlight, at whatever level he/she can get, is seeing something completely different. Consistency of experience has always been problematic, but now is extreme. Philosophically, it's interesting...but...

So I voted for your fix, Sunn... but we need a ton more votes, folks!
